Current Project StatusBelow is a snapshot of current construction activities. To view more detailed information regarding road closures, detours, parking and utility outages, please use the menu bar to the left. Week of August 30th Week of August 23rd Week of August 16th Week of August 9th Week of August 2nd Week of July 26th Week of July 19th Week of July 12th Wednesday, June 30th Wednesday, June 23rd Wednesday, June 16th Thursday, June 10th Monday, June 7th Thursday, May 27th Monday, May 24th Wednesday, May 19th Tuesday, May 11th (4-29-2010) Water lateral installation continues along the east side of Building 41 on 4th Street. The crew is currently working their way north toward Center Avenue. Another water installation crew is working on the laterals along 6th Street, near the Building 53 Mega Center. The lateral south of Building 85 will be completed today. Sanitary installation continues near the northeast corner of Building 53 and will be completed by Friday. Concrete curb and gutter repair continues on the east side of Building 95 and near the Main Ave/4th Street intersection. (4-13-2010) Water lateral installation continues along 6th Street, resulting in sidewalk and street closures. 1st Street is closed from N. Center Ave to 2nd Street for electrical duct bank installation and utility potholing. The USAR parking lot entrance is also closed as a result. It will reopen on Friday, April 16th. (4-8-2010) Manhole installation along the east side of Building 25 has resulted in the closure of a segment of sidewalk. Three parking spaces are also closed in the small lot east of Building 710A for sanitary rehabilitation. The sidewalks between Building 53 and the Daycare are being repaired and concrete will be poured on Friday. Parking west of Building 52A and south of Building 50 is now open. (4-7-2010) Water lateral installation continues along 6th Street, between Buildings 53 and the Daycare. As a result, a segment of 6th Street is closed as well as two nearby sidewalks. A crew has resumed waterline installation just south of Building 20 and should be completed by Friday, April 9th. Another crew is installing three water laterals to Building 95. This has resulted in the closure of the area just east of the loading docks. Tenants must use Main Avenue to access the parking lot southwest of Building 95 during this time. (3-30-2010) Water lateral installation has begun along 6th Street, just west of Building 52. 5th Street is also now open to vehicular traffic. There is currently a one-lane closure along 5th Street as crew install guardrails and pour concrete. Clean-up continues south of Building 20. Waterline installation will continue in that area in the next 2 weeks. Sanitary installation is occuring just south of Center Ave, near Gate 2. This crew will move north toward the pump house. Electrical duct bank installation continues just west of the USAR buildings. This is resulting in the closure of a segment of North Avenue and 1st Street through the end of the week. (3-26-2010) Steam line wrapping near Building 46 is now complete. Waterline installation across the agricultural ditch (between 3rd and 4th Streets) continues and is expected to be completed by Monday, March 29th. Water lateral installation to Building 85 that was originally scheduled for this weekend has been delayed one week. Curb and gutter work continues along 5th Street. (3-24-2010) No work was completed due to inclement weather conditions. All work is delayed 1-2 days as a result. (3-23-2010) Waterline installation continues in the following five areas of the DFC: near the southwest corner of Building 50, on the east side of Building 85, and just north of the 3rd Street/Main Avenue intersection, along the west side of Building 41, and near the southeast corner of Building 53. 6th Street is being saw-cut this afternoon in preparation of future water lateral installation in that area. (3-18-2010) Waterline installation has begun near the southwest corner of Building 50. Approximately 40 parking spaces are closed as a result. This work is scheduled for completion on Wednesday, March 24th. (3-15-2010) Waterline installation is occuring just south of Building 20 through Monday, March 15th. A crew is also installing water laterals to Building 41 and Building 53. As a result, a short segment of 5th Street is closed to vehicular traffic. Both 3rd Street and 4th Street are now open to vehicular and pedestrian traffic. Electrical duct bank installation has begun in the parking lot east of Building 25. As a result, approximately 20 parking spots are closed through Monday, March 22nd. Demolition has also begun in the USAR parking lot as preparation for upcoming installation of a utility duct bank. Paving, curb & gutter, and clean-up continue throuhout the Federal Center. PAST STATUS UPDATES: (2-22-2010) North Avenue, from 5th Street to 7th Street is closed for electrical duct bank installation. RTD bus routes and stops will be affected by this work. The parking lot west of Building 55 will also be closed for waterline installation thru Wednesday, February 24th. Work, including small excavations, continues south of Building 15. (2-19-2010) Waterline installation continues just west of Building 720. The parking lot east of Building 710 will be closed until clean-up has been completed. Work including small excavations continues south of Building 15 and north of Building 40. A segment of 5th Street remains closed until further notice for water lateral installation to Building 41. (2-16-2010) Waterline installation continues on 4th Street, 5th Street, and near the FEMA Buildings. Sanitary manhole rehabilitation will begin near Buildings 50 and 53 before moving to the east side of Building 25. Paving activities continue throughout the Denver Federal Center. Currently, the crew is south of Building 41 and in the parking lot west of Building 67. (2-11-2010) Waterline installation continues to move north along 4th Street. Installation is also ongoing near Buildings 710 and along 5th Street, just west of Building 41. (2-8-2010) Due to weather conditions, no substantial work is being performed. Concrete work, including sidewalks & curb/gutter, will not begin until late this week or early next week. (2-2-2010) Water installation continues to move east along Center Ave, between 4th and 5th Street. The second water crew continues to install along 5th St, moving south toward Main Ave. This is resulting in the closure of the parking lot north of Building 41. 5th Street is also closed from Center Avenue down to Building 40. (1-28-2010) Electrical duct bank installation continues in the parking lot west of Building 67, off of 7th Street. This has resulted in the closure of approximately 40 parking spaces. Tenants are asked to use the parking lot south of Building 67 while this work is being performed. (1-28-2010) Sanitary manhole installation and rehabilitation continues around Building 40. This has resulted in the closure of a sidewalk just west of the building. (1-28-2010) Waterline installation continues along 5th Street, moving south toward Main Avenue. Another installation crew is installing waterline just south of the 5th Street/Center Avenue intersection, moving east toward 4th Street. This is resulting in widespread road closures. Please see the most updated bulletin for more information. (1-26-2010) Sanitary crews are installing a new manhole near the northeast corner of Building 16. (1-26-2010) The intersection of 5th Street and Center Avenue is closed for waterline installation. Also, the half of the northern Building 41 parking lot is closed to prep for upcoming work. Another water installation crew is installing a fire hydrant just west of Building 64 (Daycare Center). (1-21-2010) The paving crew is laying asphalt along Main Ave, from 8th Street moving east toward 6th Street. This will result in one-lane closures. (1-21-2010) Waterline installation continues along 5th Street, south of Center Avenue. There will also be a small section of 5th Street, north of Center Ave, that will be closed for 3 to 4 days. (1-20-2010) The asphalt crew has shifted to the parking lot south of Building 50. They will close around 15 spaces at a time to complete the paving in this area. (1-20-2010) A crew continues to wrap an existing steamline near the intersection of Federal Avenue and 4th Street (near the SE corner of Building 41). This task is estimated to last approximately 2 days. (1-20-2010) Water laterals are being installed just south of Building 94. As a result, a segment of Main Avenue (west of 8th Street) will be closed for one day. During this time, Building 95 tenants can access their building via Center Avenue. (1-20-2010) Waterline installation has begun in the parking lot north of Building 55. Crews will be closing approximately 20 parking spaces while maintaining building access at all times. (1-20-2010) Waterline installation has begun at the intersection of Center Avenue and 5th Street, moving south toward Main Avenue. This will result in closures along 5th Street. The work zone will move south as the installation progresses. Please see the "1.20.10 Road Closures" bulletin for more information. (1-19-2010) An asphalt crew is working along the northbound lane of 7th Street. (1-14-2010 through 1-15-2010) A sanitary manhole is being replaced near the northwest corner of Building 41. This will require the closure of the service road entrance off of 5th Street. (1-12-2010 through 1-13-2010) A crew continues to excavate and wrap steamlines along Federal Avenue in front of Building 41. (1-5-2010 through 1-13-2010) Waterline installation continues to move east along Main Avenue. As a result, segments of Main Avenue will be closed and RTD bus stops will be eliminated and relocated. Please see the most updated project bulletin, accessible on the homepage, to obtain more information on road closures, detours, and bus stop locations during this time. (1-5-2010) Sanitary crews will be accessing an existing clean-out just west of USAR Building #2. This will require a localized closure around the construction equipment. The expected duration of this work is 3-4 days depending on weather conditions. (12-29-2009) Waterline installation continues at the intersection of 8th Street and Main Avenue and will last approximately two days. Please follow all detour signage during this time. Inclement weather could extend the duration of this work. (12-29-2009) Sanitary crews are rehabilitating an existing line north of Building 21B (along N. Center Ave.). The same crew is also working this afternoon northeast of Building 25. This work will last one day and involves a small excavation. No parking or building access will be lost as a result of this work. (12-23-2009 through 1-5-2009) Waterline installation will continue to move south along 6th Street. All excavations will be west of the street, therefore no road closures will be required. (12-21-2009) Waterline installation is occuring just south of the 6th Street/Center Ave intersection. As a result, a portion of 6th Street will be closed to vehicular traffic. Please follow all detour signs during this time. The duration of this work is one to two days. (12-19-2009) Water laterals will be installed along 7th Street, just east of Building 710A. This will result in the closure of a segment of 7th Street. The sidewalk along the east side of Building 710A will also be closed. The duration of this work is one day. (12-24-2009) Sanitary crews will be performing a point repair near the intersection of Center Avenue and 3rd Street. The only associated closures will be to a segment of the par course path near that area. (12-21-2009 through 12-23-2009) Sanitary crews will be installing a manhole just north of the intersection of 1st Street and N. Center Avenue. This will result in the closure of the right turn lane. (12-18-2009) A sanitary point repair is occuring on the south end of the USAR building. This will result in a localized closure around the manhole. The duration of this work is one day. (12-18-2009 through 12-20-09) Electrical work on Building 95 will require an electrical outage over the weekend. All procedures have been coordinated with both the GSA and tenant agencies. Please see your building manager for more information. Normal power will be restored to all buildings on Sunday, December 20th. (12-18-2009) Waterline installation continues south of Building 95, along Main Avenue. As a result, the southwest parking lot of Building 95 will be closed for one or two days. During this time, tenants can use the USGS wareyard just south of the building for supplemental parking. (12-16-2009) Waterline installation continues to move north along 7th Street. Another crew continues west along Main Avenue, near Buildings 94 and 95. (12-14-2009) A sanitary sewer point repair is occuring in the parking lot east of Building 25. This has resulted in the closure of one parking lot entrance. The duration of this repair is one day. (12-14-2009 through 12-18-2009) Waterline installation continues along the east side of 7th Street. Both northbound and southbound traffic will be maintained at all times. (12-4-2009) Due to weather conditions, waterline installation along 7th Street has been delayed until Monday, December 7th or Tuesday, December 8th. Installation continues along Main Avenue, west of 8th Street. (12-2-2009) Crews will be saw-cutting the pavement along 7th Street (between Gate 7 and Main Avenue) on December 3rd. This is in preparation for waterline installation beginning Friday, December 4th. Traffic will be shifted to the west along 7th Street, however, both northbound and southbound traffic will be maintained at all times. Waterline installation also continues along Main Avenue, just west of 8th Street. This has resulted in detours for Buildings 94 and 95. Please see the most updated bulletin for the applicable traffic control plan. (12-2-2009) Pipe-bursting (sanitary rehabilitation) is occuring along 4th Street, near Buildings 45 and 47. This has resulted in a complete road closure. Please see the bulletin for more information. (11-25-2009) Waterline installation continues west along Main Avenue towards 10th Street. Crews plan to finish the intersection of 8th Street and Main Avenue today, beginning west of 8th Street on Monday, November 30th. Existing steam lines are being wrapped in the southeast corner of Building 85 and potholing is occuring along 5th Street. (11-17-2009) Waterline installation continues northwest of Building 720. A second crew is installing waterline along Center Ave, between 6th and 7th Streets. (11-17-2009) Sanitary crews are installing line near Building 54. This will result in the closures of 5 parking spaces for a total of one day. (11-17-2009) Workers will finish cleaning up the area southwest of Building 95 from previously performed excavations. No closures will result. (11-12-2009) Crews have finished installing waterline at the intersection of Center Ave and 7th Street. One crew has now moved northwest of Buidling 720. The second crew continues to install waterline running east along Center Avenue (between 7th St and 6th St). Sanitary rehabilitation continues just south of Building 56 and the area around Buildings 85 and 85A is receiving asphalt patching. (11-6-2009) 8th Street is now reopen to vehicular traffic. Waterline installation has moved to the west side of Building 85. There will be no closures as a result of this work. Electrical manhole installation continues along the west side of 7th Street. This has resulted in the closure of numerous parking spaces in the lot west of Building 67. A segment of the nearby sidewalk will also be closed during this time. (11-3-2009) A segment of 8th Street will be closed for waterline installation. Please access the northwest parking lot of Building 85 via the temporary road between 7th and 8th Streets. The duration of this closure is one day. See the most updated bulletin for more information. (10-30-2009) Inclement weather has put all major construction activites on hold. On Monday, crews will continue installing waterline along 7th Street (south of Center Ave) and also north of Center Ave near Building 75. (10-27-2009) Waterline installation continues along 7th Street (south of Center Ave). A second crew is also installing waterline across 8th Street (north of Center Ave). This has resulted in the closure of a segment of 8th Street. This road should reopen to vehicular traffic in the afternoon on Tuesday, October 27th. (10-24-2009) Waterline installation will result in the closure of a segment of 8th Street (north of Center Ave). Please review the most updated bulletin for more information. This closure could be extended through Monday, October 26th due to the amount of work to be completed. (10-22-2009) Sanitary sewer rehabilitation (through the cure-in-place piping process) has begun south of Building 85. Crews will quickly work their way south toward Main Avenue before returning north near Building 67 around November 5th. (10-22-2009) Waterline installation continues south of Building 85 and has resulted in the closure of numerous parking spaces. This work will move east of 8th Street starting the week of October 26th. (10-20-2009) Crews will be potholing near the Post Office and Buildings 710, 710A, and 720. There will be localized closures around the potholing truck, but all buildings and parking lots will remain accessible during this time. (10-19-2009) Crews will be installing a new manhole along 6th Street, near Buildings 50 and 53. This will result in a one-lane closure around the work zone that will last two days. See the updated bulletin for more information. (10-14-2009) Water crews will be saw-cutting in the parking lot south of Building 85 to prepare for waterline installation that will occur early next week. This will result in the closure of approximately 12 parking spaces in the lot south of Building 85. Tenants are asked to use the temporary lot north of Building 85A as supplemental parking during this time. See the most updated bulletin for exact closure locations. (10-13-2009) Concrete walls are being poured at the pump house. Sanitary crews are also finishing point repairs along 5th Street. Water crews are completing waterline installation near the intersection of North Ave and 7th St. (10-6-2009) Waterline installation continues northwest of Building 85. Sanitary sewer crews are beginning to mobilize for point repairs in the parking lot south east of Building 53. This will result in the loss of up to 5 parking spaces. (10-2-2009) Waterline installation has now moved northwest of Building 85, beyond the DFC fence line. As a result, there will be no road closures or detours for the next two weeks. 8th Street is now open to vehicular traffic and the sidewalk north of Building 85A will be repaired this afternoon. (10-2-2009) The sidewalk north of Building 50 is being repaired and will reopen to pedestrian traffic on Monday, October 5th. (9-28-2009 through 10-2-2009) 18 parking spaces will be closed in the parking lot south of Building 67 as crews perform sanitary sewer point repairs. (9-29-2009) Water crews are performing a wet tap north of Building 85A. During this time, the sidewalk in this area will be closed until further notice. A portion of 8th Street also remains closed at this time. (9-23-2009) The north parking lot of Building 85 will be closed for waterline installation. Please seek parking in the temporary lot north of Building 85A. (9-22-2009) Waterline installation will finish along 8th St and begin its turn northwest. (9-18-2009) Sanitary sewer installation is complete near Building 64 (the Daycare). (9-18-2009) The temporary parking lot entrance south of Building 85 (off of Center Ave) will be closing at 5PM. All traffic entering this parking lot will have access from 8th St. (9-18-2009) Waterline installation is finishing up along 8th St. The laterals will be installed at a later date. (9-14-2009) Sanitary crews have one to two more days of work around Building 64. They are performing open-cut sanitary installation along with pipe-bursting to rehabilitate the existing system. (9-14-2009) Waterline installation continues along 8th Street near Buildings 85 and 85A. Work will continue to shift north and the road behind it will start to reopen to vehicular traffic. This installation will continue through Tuesday, September 15th. On Wednesday, September 16th, crews will head back down to 10th St to finish up the Main Ave waterline crossing. Work along 8th St is planned to resume on Thursday, September 17th. (9-10-2009) The maintenance road between 7th and 8th Streets is being improved to allow adequate building and parking access for Building 85/85A occupants as waterline is installed along 8th St. A temporary entrance is also being installed along Center Ave to allow access to the parking lot south of Building 85. Both of these items will be complete before work can begin along 8th St. (9-9-2009) Crews finish waterline installation along 10th Street and move equipment to the next phase near Buildings 85 and 85A. (9-2-2009) Open-cut sanitary sewer installation has begun south of Building 85 near the greenhouse. Installation should be completed at the end of next week. Crews are also performing sanitary point repairs in the small parking lot south of Building 85. No parking will be lost as a result of this work. (9-2-2009) Crews just completed the first of three concrete pours for the pump house foundation. The second pour is scheduled for mid-September. (9-1-2009) Gate 5 will reopen on Wednesday, September 2nd. This gate is located along Center Ave, just west of 10th St, and can be accessed via Union Blvd. (8-30-2009) On Monday, August 31st through Wednesday, September 2nd, sections of 6th Street will be experiencing temporary lane closures for sanitary sewer point repairs. These will be localized, one-lane closures along 6th Street from Main Avenue to North Central Ave and will not affect building or parking access. Flaggers will be present to direct traffic around the closures at all times. (8-26-2009) Excavation for the sanitary sewer lines has begun around Building 94. The building will still be accessible and no roads will be closed. (8-24-2009) Crews continue to pothole around Buildings 85 & 85A. This will require three parking spaces to be closed in the visitor/handicap parking lot just east of Building 85. The sidewalk in this area will also be closed and pedestrians will be rerouted around the work zone. The south entrance to Building 85 will still remain accessible. Work should conclude at the end of the day and the parking spaces will be reopened to tenants on Tuesday, August 25th. (8-21-2009) Crews will be video-taping the existing sanitary sewer lines between Buildings 50 & 53. As a result, two parking spots will be closed from 8:00AM to noon to gain access to these lines. (8-17-2009) Crews continue to pothole in areas 1 and 2 (see "Work Plan" for description of areas). This will result in localized closures around the construction equipment and the possible need for one-way traffic. Flaggers will be present to direct vehicles around the work zone. (8-17-2009) Construction crews are laying the rock base for the pump station. (8-03-2009) Workers are currently excavating for the pump station foundation in the Northwest corner of the DFC. For your safety, please stay clear of the construction zone. Any authorized personnel must be wearing appropriate personal protective equipment upon entering the work area.
